Reviews of Fisher - Price Go Baby Go! Bat and Wobble Penguin

1.) I disagree....my son loves this toy
Reviewed by: J. Colby
Rating:
I have to disagree with the above reviews. My son is 8 months old and the penguin, or Hugsie (we named him), is a great motivational toy for crawling. My son enjoys pushing him over and having him come back and I found Hugsie easy to inflate. My son enjoys crawling towards Hugsie and likes to spin him around 360 degrees. I'm sorry other people had a bad experience with this toy but we love it!

2.) Fun Penguin

My family made fun of me as I was having such fun batting this penguin around Christmas Eve.
I found this hard to blow up, yes, but my son had no trouble. I read in another review that it was a problem, but I have a problem with balloons too. I also read complaints about the penguin not popping back up. This can easily be rectified. Make sure the penguin is completely inflated, we too had the penguin just lay there until we added more air.
My 6 month old and my 23 month old enjoy this toy. It gets carried around by my older daughter and my 6 month old (whom it was purchased for) will sit next to it batting it around. She's even kicked it with her feet as I held it above her.
One tiny problem, my 23 month old thinks the balls need to come out so she can roll them on the floor.
As for the educational value, those who think there is no educational value must not understand babies. As a baby bats this toy it will roll over and pop back up, teaching cause and effect. Also the contrasting colors are great for babies.
I will have to say I don't know anything about the music as we haven't been able to get batteries yet, too expensive in our local small town, when we get somewhere that it doesn't cost a fortune for a pack of batteries we will get to see what the penguin does.
Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase, I still remember my clown wobble toy when I was a child and these are so much fun for babies.

I bought this for my son and never played with it. One year later he loves it(2 years old now). My son throws it down the stairs and it just bounces and keeps on playing the laughing sound. At first I wished I never got it but now I really like it. Never had any problems with it.

I orignally purchased it for my baby granddaugter for Christmas. She is 6 months old, but when it arrived a their home her brother 2 years old saw the delivery guy. My grandson turned 3 last week and since he already knew about the delivery we changed it to his birthday present. He has more fun it. I just want to thank you for having the toy for our kids. You really made a little boy happy on his 3rd birthday, and I could not have done it without the help of Amazon.com

My 11 month old loves it! So does my 2.5 year old. The 11 month old carries it around by it's hair and tackles it and punches it and laughs at the noises. She loves to say "weeeeeeeee" and the penguin says it too so we all love it!!

my daughter recieved this as a gift when she was 8 months old. she showed little interest in it at first because she was a wobbly as the penguin...lol...now she is 8 months, crawls up to it, bats it, grabs it's wings and hair, tries to reach for the balls inside...it is a great toy, have had no problems, and i say any toy that can hold up to a 5 and 3 yr. old using it as a unching bag and kicking toy is worth it to me!!

My 9-month-old loves to bat this thing around and make it play music. She laughs when the penguin makes its silly noises. If she's doing something she shouldn't be, or starts to fuss, I put this penguin in front of her and it instantly distracts her.

10.) Cute and Fun Toy

My son's dad bought this for him because he loves penguins and it has turned out to be a great toy! I find it annoying after a while of hearing all the noises but then I just turn off the sound and my son just keeps on hitting it! He loves to watch the penguin wobble all around.

Unlike some other people I have had no problems with it and we have had it for a few months now. It wasn't super hard to put together, just blow it up and put in batteries. And there has been no problem with the sound not working or with it falling over and not bouncing back up.

It has been a great distraction for my son when I am trying to get things done around the house so I rate it 5 stars! To me it is a cute and fun toy!

11.) Penguin Fun

I bought this penguin for my four month old infant. She loves being held at a standing position and grabbing the penguin's hair, arms, and nose. The fabric around the plastic is a soft felt material and he has fleece arms, feet, and hair. Whenever he tilts to a side the music/sound effects activate and is great for cause/effect knowledge.

WE just purchased this toy and it is great! Unlike other reviewers, we have no problem with this toy wobbling and coming back up after it falls over. In fact I could not get the toy to stay down. My 5 month old loved watching it spin and wobble and laughed at its sounds. It was a great purchase for the price.

14.) Teach Your Kid to "Bat"
Reviewed by: Chad T. Alexander Fayettenam, NC
Rating:
This was a compromise when I bought the Fisher-Price Crawl-Along Drum Roll for our daughter (Daddy picked the drum, mommy picked the penguin).

We have had no problems with this toy. You put in the 80's favorite size of batteries (C, nothing else but the Fisher-Price Open Top Take-Along Swing - Rainforest and an old boom box run on C batteries) and it's weighted fine. Maybe it didn't pop up because batteries weren't in there. The batteries add weight to make the whole thing work as intended.

It wasn't hard to blow up. The valve is more "industrial" than most valves, so I agree that it takes more than blowing up a small beach ball, but I see that as added quality and not a knock.

The only issue so far, is that at medium range, our daughter is scared of the blasted thing. Close up, she is fine with it. She "bats" it and no problem. Far away, daddy hits it and she laughs. But at two-ish feet, she screams in bloody murder at the scary attacking penguin with the creepy clown-like "huuuuh-huuuh-huuuh-uh-huh" that it makes when "batted."

And the last thing that is just my two cents, but oh well. There is no real educational value to this toy. It's fun. But really, I see it as beginning self-defense training. It says somewhere on the box that it teaches your kid to "bat." What the heck is "batting" but "hitting?" I'm all about the real toys and sick of this PC stuff, which is why I'll train her to kick the thing in a month from her Johnny Jump-Up. But whatever. I thought I'd just add that.

15.) Fun for baby!

My 7 month old loves her new penguin! She likes to play on the floor & kick, push on, and even "wrestle" with him! She gets his "paw" in her hand, and drags him down! She likes to watch the balls move around & seems to stay busy with this toy for a long time.

Her big brothers, 2 & 5, have been a little rough with the penguin, with no noticeable damage/wear. Hopefully he'll be around here for a while!

I'm not sure what the others are talking about with the bad reviews of this toy. My daughter has one and so does her cousin and they both love it. The toy is very durable and easy to use. My daughter enjoys knocking over or tackling the penguin and then hearing what it says. She also likes to carry it around the house. She started playing with this toy at 7 months old and it has offered lots of enjoyment.

I brought this for my son for christmas in July so he was about 8 mo. old he enjoyed playing with it and throwing it around by the colorful hair on its head. I never had a problem with it not coming back up after falling down but I don't think my son every really gave it a chance to fall down. Now that my son is 13 mo. old he enjoys it even more because he can walk around with it. The only problem I have with this toy is the size batteries that it takes.

18.) Not worth it

We got this for our daughter for Christmas. It's okay, but not great. Every now and then she will hit at it, but for the most part, she just ignores it. Her favorite part of it is actually the top, purple green and blue felt things coming out of the top of it's head. Overall, though, she goes more for everything else. Just to be nitpicky, the C batteries that it requires are a pain. We had to make a special trip to the store to get some, because we never use C batteries. Save your money.

I bought this toy when my baby girl was 5 months old and she is know 10 months at first she was scared out of mind over this toy everytime it moved she should start crying and yet today she will bat at it with her hand but when it starts singing she trys to crawl away from it as fast as her little legs and arms will take her. She hates this toy she wont even play with it when I have it out. Other then that the toy is durable the cat always attacks it and no far she hasnt poked any holes in it. inflateing it didnt take long. Perty mcuh a few big breaths and i had it full of air and havent had to reinflate it like some toys become flat over time. Good toy but I guess my daughter is afraid of the black and white rocking penquin. lol

21.) Don't buy
Reviewed by: cp760 Etters, PA
Rating:
When we got this we assumed that it was like the old style we had when we were younger where you could bat at it and it would fall down and then pop back up. Nope. It would fall down and then just lay there - it wouldn't pop back up because of the way the battery compartment was. If you gently tap it with one finger it would wobble, but when my 12 mo old pushed it, it just fell over and did nothing. I had to keep setting it back up. My baby was bored after pushing it over 3 or 4 times. You'd be better off with the older style that doesn't use batteries.

First off, it was difficult to blow up. Then once I had it filled finally...the plug kept popping out. I had to tape it down! The noises it makes are very quiet. And after just a week it started to make an annoying buzzing noise, instead of the intended noises. It was a total waste of time and money.

I don't know why I didn't heed the warnings from the other reviews but for some reason I went ahead and purchased this product. Of course, I ended up returning the toy. In theory, I thought this would be fabulous fun for my 12 month old child but the product does not wobble and deflates in a matter of hours. This is really a poor quality product. Save yourself time and don't do what I did. Avoid this toy.

24.) Horrible product.

I got this for my 9 month old son because he likes to hit things... figured it would be like one of those clowns with the bean bag bottom. It's not. These are the main problems I found with it...

1. Inflating it was difficult. The plug popped out and it deflated within minutes every time.
2. The sounds were very annoying.
3. The fabric has waaaay too much dye. It smells awful and because it came in contact with my face/mouth while I was trying to get it inflated, I got a rash. It burned for hours.

My son never actually saw this toy as I returned it within an hour of purchase. I don't recommend it at all.
