1.) So many levels of fun!

My daughter (now 22 months) has enjoyed these since she was a year old. This is one smart toy! The eggs come apart and inside is a colored egg that squeaks when you push it. That was the primary source of fun at first. As my daughter's coordination improved, she became interested in putting the "hats" back on top each egg. Now she likes to try and put each egg in its proper space - the bottom of each egg has a protrouding star, circle, etc. that fits in the matching star, circle, etc. in the bottom of the egg carton. As she gets even older, I'm sure she will enjoy matching the unique eyes/mouth on each colored with the coordinating top. I am so impressed with how this grows with her, but most importantly, every single kid who comes over to our house goes nuts about this toy. There is something wonderful about it, and for [the money], it can't be beat!

My son could not wait for me to get this out of the box. He LOVES dumping the eggs out and taking them with him when he walks or crawls. He smiles when they "peep" at him. He even looks worried if his father and I are playing with the eggs without him. Without a doubt one of the best toys we've ever bought.
3.) A great easter gift

This was given to my son for easter. The age says 12 months + but I think it is more for like 18 months. However this toy has many levels. First it has cute eggs which sort of squek. Not really though it is a [terrible] squeak. Then it has very shape sorting properties. Each egg has a different face on it which matches to a certain shell. Also the bottoms of the egss have shapes like stars and hearts which only fit into certain spot on the container. It is really cute and a great toy
4.) An "egg-cellent" toy!

My daughter has had this toy for almost a year (she got it for Christmas when she was 14 months old) and she is still having a ball with it. There are so many things that it can teach: matching (the eggs have a face that matches the face of the chick inside), fine motor (the eggshells have "serrated" edges that fit together), shape recognition (the bottom of the eggs have a shape like a heart or a star that fits in the matching shape in the base of the carton like a puzzle) and just plain fun (the eggs come apart and there is a chick inside that gives a little squeak when you push it down). They come in a nice little blue "egg carton" that snaps closed. They could also be used for imaginative play for groceries or cooking. A great little toy all around.
5.) Surprisingly great toy -- good for travel

My son (now 16 mos)got this as a 1st birthday present and he absolutely loves it. It's compact case makes it a standard toy for all our trips. There are layers of enjoyment to match his development -- from opening and closing the egg carton, to spinning the egg shells and making the chicks chirp. He hasn't yet learned about the shape sorting or face matching, so there's more fun to come. A great gift and a great value.

My (then) 15-month-old was always trying to steal egg shells from the trash. Usually he leaves the trash alone but for some reason egg shells fascinated him. I saw this in a store and honestly bought it because it was eggs and was in his age range. And it did work really well for keeping him from raiding the trash for egg shells... now that he has his own eggs to play with, he has lost interest in the real ones.
The surprise for me was how much he has liked (and still does months later) the toy/game aside from just the egg shells. He is really into the shape-sorting/puzzle phase now and he loves to get the eggs to fit in the right shapes! He seems to like the size and shape of them, they fit perfectly in his hand and he carries them around a lot and especially seems to like to play with them/make them squeak during diaper changes (keeps him occupied so a plus!). He isn't old enough yet to match the faces yet, but we do play trying to match the colors already.
I can see this toy getting played with for another year or two easily which is another plus. I also like having a simple interactive game I can play with him this young. I just wish I'd seen it on Amazon first, I paid more for it in a store.

I wasn't quite sure how my 6 mo old would react to this toy as she's just learning and discovering toys now that she can sit on her own. She LOVES this toy. THe 5 star reviews on here are right! She enjoys dumping the eggs out of the carton, picking up the shells and putting them in her mouth. We're waiting for her to learn the cause/effect of pushing the egg down for a squeak. THis was a great, economical purchase - and I'm glad we snapped it up since I saw that the manufacturer has discontinued this toy now. I think it'll be a great learning toy in years to come as she matures and starts to use the matching, sorting, pattern capabilities of this toy. I have to say I expected a stronger "peep" from the chicks, it's very subtle. But I guess that's good so it doesn't get annoying.

I bought this for my then 3 year old. He loves to crack eggs, so this was perfect for him. He was a little disappointed that the little "chicks" don't come out of their shells, but he still has had lots of fun playing with the eggs, matching up the shells with the chicks' expressions, and matching the shapes on the bottoms of the shells into the proper space in the carton. It kept his interest for a number of miles on a long car trip.

He has yet to figure out how to organize them and match the shapes, so he'll spend much more time with them before he outgrows it.

It is also good for matching shapes, and colors. I am not sure why some others complained it is not educational. The faces on the chicks match the shells on the outside- it's a GREAT matching game. 26.) Fantastic Eggs that Teach Shapes and Keep Baby Busy
Reviewed by: M. B. Lazebnik Boston

I got this toy as a gift from a friend, whose son loved using it as well, and I was pleasantly surprised that it is still being sold on amazon. My son loved playing with the eggs since he was about 10 months old. First, the eggs themselves look quite realistic, and it's an attractive toy even for adults. The chicks inside the eggs come in handy for learning basic colors, in addition they squeak. They all fit into holes of different shapes, so for us it was a great tool to learn shapes. Finally it helps to develop hand and finger coordination, because it encourages fine movements from the baby by placing egg shells on the eggs. One feature that is both a con and a pro is that the box is tough to open, but on the other hand, it is a good thing because you can lock them in and they will not be all over you house. Our baby enjoyed throwing the egg shells into the recycling bin, and it was a game for mama and daddy to locate all of the shells later. The more advanced thing about the eggs is that they each have different emotions painted on them, so the toy really grows with the child. These faces kind of rub off, but it's not the main feature of the toy anyway.
I highly recommend this wonderful toy to any parent of a small child, as it sure delights my baby, and we have good times learning and playing with it.

My daughter got this for Christmas and loves it. I have to admit I like the fact she can't open it herself. That way I decide when all the piece get to be scattered. The only thing I find disturbing and inaccurate is that there are chicks inside these eggs. Yes chicks come from eggs but the eggs from the store will never have chicks in them. I worry this will confuse little ones and discourage them from eating eggs. Otherwise a great toy. There are a total of 13 pieces including the container that stores them. At age two my daughter still does not understand how to put the eggs back into their spots or matching shapes but she loves opening the eggs, closing them, and making them squeak. The squeak is a high pitched but quiet squeak. My daughter loves them.

We got this for my daughter when she was about a year old and at 15 months she is still playing with it. I can't say she is using them as intended -- she doesn't care that there is a specific spot for each egg. But she loves to pull them out, squeak them, shake them, etc. It is one of the first thing she pulls out of her toy box. And, as an added bonus, my husband and I both find putting this toy away enjoyable. It feels like we are able to impose a tiny bit of order in our day!

I bought this toy spur of the moment in the POrtland Airport for my then 14 month old daughter to entertain her on the plane to Phoenix. I had no clue that it would be such a hit. She played with it for almost an hour the first time, and has consistently been a go to toy that she pulls out every day. She had a little difficulty opening the egg carton at first, but now she can do it. She loves to make the chicks "cheep", and to take them in and out and put the tops on and off. She has even discovered that they fit in the newer little people toys (the base is small enough to fit in the chairs in her house)... In all this has been a great toy and one I count on to slip in her diaper bag to take with us to friend's houses who don't have kids. I can usually guarantee its something she'll play with happily for an extended time. Anyone who has a toddler knows that's a huge battle! I will be purchasing this for my niece for Christmas as well as she is one month older than my daughter. This toy is great because there are an infite ways that it can be played with which is very important developmentally.

I have triplets and finding toys they can all play with and love is difficult. These little eggs are by far one of our favorite toys! I bought them when the kids were about 11 months. At first they just had fun taking them out and making them squeak. It wasn't long before they were fitting the tops on the eggs. At 18 months, they still LOVE their "eggs". They recently discovered if they hold down the egg and blow into the shape side of the shell, they can make them whistle. I'm pretty sure this isn't a design of the toy but is a huge bonus! They also now match up the shapes on the shells with the shapes in the carton. Honestly, to date this is the best money I've ever spent on a toy for my kids. I highly recommend it to all my friends. My son starting playing with them when he was 6 months old - they were fun to "break" apart. He's now 1 and still enjoys breaking them apart but it starting to see where all the matching comes in, too. Plus he sorts egg/shells and enjoys that. Many more concepts to learn. Plus they are cute.

Although the egg carton is somewhat difficult to open, even for me, this toy has a lot of educational value. I like that each of the eggs have a shape sorter bottom to them and a removal top with cute faces on them! They are fun to mix and match and my 1 year old daughter can sit for more than 30 minutes playing with these and literally "scrambling" these eggs around! These really help with manual dexterity, matching and creative play so it's a good, fun, durable toy.

This has been a great toy to travel with and my daughter loves it. I love it because it requires no batteries. It helps her learn to sort shapes and really requires an adult to open so "eggs" aren't spilling out unless you want them to.

I got this for my 1 year old and its kept her busy for the better part of the year! SO many levels of fun. They can match shapes on bottom of egg to slots on top of egg. The eggs squeak which is delightful to the kids and actually not that annoying to adults. Also each eggshell and egg has a different expression on their face so for older or more attentive kids you can have them match faces. And of course, the eggs 'crack' open like real eggs so they go in the toy kitchen. My only problem is that my kids played with this so much that the cover of the egg carton broke off. I tried tape but it didnt last too long. SO now the eggs are no longer together...

I gave this to a friend's 18 month-old little boy as a gift.
The eggs come apart and fit back together again, then they fit in the carton.
He loves it.

The only issue i have with this toy is that the tops of the eggs don't stay on. They are simply placed on. So, if the egg tips over, the eggtop falls. We lose these pieces often. I miss the plastic eggs when i was a kid, that took effort to open. On a more positive note, my 2 year old loves shapes, so the shapes on the bottom of the egg are educational for us. Wish the eggs had different colors, instead 2 are blue, 2 are purple and 2 are orange. educational value could improve if they were all different colors. The eggs peep when pushed down, they are cute overall, but not quite the response i thought i'd get from my 2 year old. I am hoping his baby sister will like these more, just might be my little guy..who is more into cars. (the chicks don't come out of the egg, either..fyi)

My son is 21 months old and has a major fascination with eggs in the fridge. Loves the word egg and loves carrying around a boiled egg when I make him one, so I thought he would love this product. He played with it for the first hour and has played with it a few times since we got it but I always have to remind him about it. And he doesn't get the chirping of the birds or matching the faces or shapes. He might just be too young, I think it may be better for an older kid.

I would love to order this toy, but it makes me upset when I am ordering over $150 of items and I can't get free shipping because this item is in my cart. If it says free shipping and Amazon is fulfilling the order, why is it not recognizing that I am purchasing all those other items, all free shipping, all fulfilled my Amazon. What am I not understanding here?

My daughter is two and still has to come to me to open the eggs because the latch is not meant for a little kid. She has not learned to fit them in their spots, so she gets very frustrated I end up cleaning them up. They are just a pain and not very fun.

This toy may be 10 minutes of fun for a one-year-old. I purchased these to supplement a play food set for my child, and several features could be improved: the squeak is only mildly noticeable on some eggs. I also find it strange that the chicks are blue, orange, and purple. There is no challenge to opening the eggs, the top shells simply fall off. The sorting shapes are relief-carved into the bottom of the carton and difficult to see, some contrasting color to highlight the shapes would be better. Overpriced for its limited usefulness; save your $$ for a better item.
