That I studied architecture in college can be directly attributed to my love for Legos as a kid. Now that I'm 32 and can afford things, I've rediscovered my favorite childhood toy. I asked my wife for Legos for Christmas and she came through with this magnificent set. It's Christmas night and I'm already done. The design and detail are better than ever. Following the instructions and building it are just as much fun as I remember. Now I need to go to the storage area under the stairs and drag out my giant box of Legos that have lied dormant for 20 years and start building the rest of the town.

Basically, Legos are great for kids and they promote imagination. A lot of the architecture students I've talked to through the years were also avid Lego builders. In addition to learning how to follow a set of instructions, they also promote visualization and imagination and both are extremely important elements of any engineering or design career. So if you're looking for something safe and fun for your child that might just start them down a road toward a very fulfilling career, you just can't go wrong with Legos.

This was purchased as a gift. The nice thing is that it makes several different houses, not just one. This was more reasonably priced than locally, and much much cheaper than eBay. Very good purchase.

I love this Creator series. It gets away from all the fads--good ol'-fashioned building. This one is great because it includes plans for 3 different houses . . . and my kids always have fun building others on their own.

I bought this Lego set for my 9 year old daughter for Christmas. She loved it. It took a few sittings to put the whole house together but it was not difficult. My daughter and her friends were able to follow the directions booklet mostly on their own with only a little help from me. Now my daughter is talking about taking it apart to make one of the other houses that you can make with the set.

11.) Amazing detailing, but not great for little ones

We got this for our son to play with, knowing it would be a bit too advanced for him, but not realizing just how advanced. It says 8 and up which is probably a bare minimum to build the designs on the box. When you build the house (it took my husband and me about three hours), you see all the detail that is not obvious from the packaging: stairs, a fireplace, inside lights, a two section, removable roof. The Lego figures do fit inside the house, although it doesn't come with any nor with any furniture other than the picnic table outside, which is too bad. There are a lot of interesting pieces: sliding doors, a birdbath, working shutters, glass blocks, arches, flames and nice roof tiles. My five year old is having a good time making up his own creation but I do think it will be a while before he is building one of the three on the box.

I bought this for my ten year old daughter thinking that she would need help with this from her older brother. Even though there were more pieces than she has ever worked with the pictorial instruction manual made it a breeze for her. She absolutely loves playing with it. She is interested in architecture so, it definitely inspired her.

Since on the box there was no picture of a person or anything to give a good reference as to the size, I thought that the home would be bigger. Imagine my surprise when my daughter built this tiny thing. I felt that the price was a little steep for something this small but I guess that I am paying for the complicated design and of course, the Lego name. I did like the fact that there were other creator sets that I could purchase to go along with this set.

This set is definitely good for either gender which is refreshing since most of the Lego sets seems to be geared for boys. If your child is interested in Legos, architecture or you want a toy that kids will love for years, this set is a good choice for you! Amazon did have the best price (at least right around the holidays) for this set too.

It was great to play with LEGO again after all these years.
I bought it for my younger daughter, BUT, my wife end up doing it all day after Christmas Morning.

15.) 10 Year Old Loves it

I got this set for my 10 year old daughter for Christmas as she saw it here on Amazon and requested it. She loves this set. She decided to make a couple of her own creations before starting to make the set that the instructions are for. She had so much fun making up her own house and little things to go inside and outside. Now she's been working on the main house that is shown on the front of the box. She's been having no problems at all with it (sometimes with some sets the instructions can be confusing and she will ask for help, but so far has not with this set). We have had many different LEGO sets over the years and I would have to say this is one of our absolute favorites. It's just a very nice looking piece. Though I think the price is a bit much for what you get, yes...it can build 3 items, but I still believe the set is too expensive for what you get. I was happy that I was able to get this for a much smaller amount on a deal here on Amazon. So other than the price point, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, this set is great.

16.) Cute House Though Bags of Bricks are Not Numbered

My 8-year old son and I had a great time putting this house together. The only thing in which he was disappointed was that the bags of bricks were not numbered. He had just put together a huge Lego City (Police Headquarters) set where the pieces came grouped together (by instruction book page) in numbered bags. He thoroughly enjoyed that set and worked on it for hours straight. With this Creator House, he was overwhelmed with sorting through the many pieces. To make it more enjoyable for him, I created our own Ziploc bags with the pieces from 4 or 5 pages at a time and labelled them with a Sharpie. He was very grateful! As the massive pile of pieces grew smaller, we stopped with the bags and separated the pieces by color.

Other than that, this is an adorable, high-qualify house (as most Lego sets are). And like most Lego sets, it does end up being a bit smaller than you might think. We would definitely purchase this house again.

17.) Hard to build roof

I worked with son and we enjoyed building the walls of the house. However, problems begin with the roof. The plates and the blocks that create the underside of the roof cannot lock tightly onto each other as one must connect multiple plates with insufficient number of blocks to create the full roof. Thus, our roof splintered in several places during the building process and we are on our second attempt to build the roof. It would have been better to have one large plate for the underside of the roof to avoid this structural problem with using multiple small plates and trying to connect them all with blocks.

The walls of the house did not experience a similar structural problem as the blocks are firmly built upon one large piece of lego pad. Lego needs to use the same idea for the roof.

It is also very difficult and time-consuming to separate similar size pieces once they are connected. I do not look forward to disassembling one house to build another.

As there are close to 1,000 pieces, it would be nice for the set to come with a lidded tub to store the numerous pieces. The cardboard box is useless and a big waste of space.

These issues all diminish the fun nature of the set.

18.) Disappointing and Frustrating

Having enjoyed Legos as a child I thought I would purchase this kit to share with my daughter. Initally we were frustrated by the poor diagrams but kept at it. After a few days I started to notice that we were missing pieces. Not many, but enough that making substitutions early on would require more substitutions as we built until we gave up. I would think that Lego would be very careful about ensuring that pieces are not missing. Very disappointing. This wasn't a cheap toy.

My grandchildren love Lego's they each wanted new kits for xmas so after they choose what they wanted I ordered. One set the Lego town came complete. The other this house came missing pieces and could not be completed by my granddaughter and my wife they checked the pieces several times and they were not shipped with the house. We have purchaced several thousand dollars worth of Lego's and this is the first time this has happened. I acn only hope some one can remedy this for my granddaughter.
