We got this digger to compliment the eco-loader and eco-dump truck from Sprig, our little guys loves it. We love the fact that it is made in Europe, but most of all the cool mechanical functions. One reviewer seemed to have trouble, but ours has been awesome and is a hit in the sandbox... can't wait for spring!
2.) Great truck, great material...not made in china!!!

We actually got this for our 26mth old for Easter, but could not wait to give it to him. He loves it. Digger shovel works fine, maybe the fist reviewer received a dud some how. My little boys has scooped up rocks from the floor, scoops water from the tub, and snow from outside. Can't wait till spring to hit the sandbox. Sturdy(took a few big hits down the stairs), eco-friendly, made in Europe, nice pine (saw dust)smell. No need to worry about lead, or harmfull chemicals. I like a company who worrys about kids and the enviornment. A must have for toddlers.

I think the people who had problems with the durability of these trucks got a 'lemon'. We have had ours now for about a year, and they get played with everyday, and we have had NO problems. The excavator can be somewhat difficult to use for the little ones. We have all three trucks, and several other sprig products and are now loyal customers looking for more! We buy them for gifts and everybody has loved them! They really do a lot of maneuvering and 'tricks' for non-mechanical battery- free toys. They were engineered really well. We love them!
7.) Great trucks!

My two-year-old son received three Sprig trucks for his birthday - the excavator, dump truck, and bulldozer. He plays with them everyday outside in the dirt pile in our backyard. His imaginative play has definitely increased since he received them. He now makes roads and constructs "buildings" from piles of dirt, rocks, and sticks. The trucks have withstood a lot of rough play. I would definitely recommend these to anyone with toddlers and preschoolers.
8.) Great toy. Great value.

I bought this truck for my 2 3/4 yo son to play with outside. It's held up well, has a lot of features, and he really enjoys it. The first thing he said though, was, "Where's the driver?" These trucks don't come with drivers even though there is a place for them to be inserted. Eco-friendly and inexpensive! Sprig Toys says this is in the works, but it seems odd given that they have other "people" with some different vehicles

10.) Sturdy Trucks for Llittle Hands

These trucks are a great alternative to more expensive metal toys and other cheap plastic trucks. The big handles allow even little hands to operate them for maximum fun. My 3 yr. old grandson simply loves them. I would absolutely buy more of these quality trucks from this manufacturer.

12.) Great truck

Well, this is a well-made fun truck. However, I have to agree it's a bit difficult to use, especially for a 3 year old. The push handle that operates the actual digger is a bit complicated, but he still uses the truck and seems to enjoy it. Hopefully, he'll get used to it as he gets older.
UPDATE: After only a few uses, another child in the sandbox was playing with it when the handle broke off. It's a shame, as I was excited to find a green product not made in China, but he doesn't have much use for it now and it broke in such a way that I don't think it can be repaired.
13.) Fun, but a small issue with handle

I asked my 3 1/2 year old grandson what he wanted to play with for an upcoming visit to my house in Alaska and he said an "excavator", so I bought this one for use in the sandbox. He loved it, had great fun, but was becoming frustrated with the lift handle getting jammed stuck when he lifted dirt. (We also have a 'dirt' box!) I showed him how to jiggle the handle side to side rather forcibly, and then he played without needing help. I also bought the matching dump truck and the two toys make a great combination. My grandson, who has MANY construction vehicles at his home in California, loved playing with them once we figured out the handle issue. He's the one who's opinion matters here!
14.) Great toy, but sand down the catch for easy play
Reviewed by: Larissa C. Wilsie

My 2 year old loved it from the first instant, but there is a little bit of plastic that catches to keep the digger in the open position. He would get very frustrated trying to make it work. We took a file and sanded down the little bit of plastic and now it opens/closes smoothly. Also, the wheel base can lock/unlock so that the wheels turn sideways and all the way around. This can be another source of frustration for him. This has been in the dirt and in the tub and it holds up fairly well despite thin plastic and rough play. Probably better suited to 3-year-old and up, but the only "green" construction equipment we could find.

I got this for my son when he was 2 to bring to the beach. He loved playing with them in the sand, as did I. We also bought the dump truck and loader and they too are great. He loves them and they have now been back from the beach and after a good washing are doing great. He does not use them in the dirt yet but I think as long as you do not actually try and excavate packed dirt and just use them in the sandbox they will stand the test of time. I love all the motions like the real tractor and he does too. Would recommend them 2 thumbs up unless you really are trying to dig out packed dirt then maybe you should try getting a real excavator as these are only toys! :)

I wasn't sure at first but my son LOVES this crane. It is lightweight and easy to use for a 2 year old. He cannot figure out the bucket part quite yet but he will eventually. There is a small pull which allows the base to have freedom to rotate, very cool. The plastic is 100% recycled milk jugs so it is a green toy and we are thrilled. I also bought the dump truck and the front loader. highly recommend both of those too.

I was so excited for this truck for many reasons: eco-friendly, made in europe, no batteries! Unfortunately the handle broke off of the scoop, and my son has lost interest in playing with it. In addition to the excavator, we got the loader and the dump truck. The lock on the dump truck is also broken now. I really thought these toys would be more durable.

Got this excavator with the loader and dump truck as a set for our son's 3rd birthday. The excavator bucket and boom broke the first time he had it in the dirt pile....so much for being durable and able to stand up to what they are advertised to be made for! The dump truck broke a few days after that...the pieces just break off...this material is not made for playing with dirt and sand, etc. Would probably be okay for inside only, gentle play. VERY, VERY DISSATISFIED!!!!!!! WOULD NOT PURCHASE AGAIN!!!!

My wife was so excited when she saw this line of trucks. She loved the idea of them being made out of recycled materials and that she could get my son a matching set of trucks. My son LOVES trucks. He would dig in the sandbox and the dirt all day if we let him. So my wife paid $50 and bought the excavator, loader, and dump truck. We gave them to him for his birthday. I got to see him open them before I left for work. He was so excited. But I could tell instantly once I handled the excavator that one, he was going to have a hard time manipulating the bucket mechanism and two, that the build quality may not stand up to REAL use in the sandbox.
My suspicion came true as 2 hours later I received a text from my wife that said the bucket of the excavator broke off. Man! That stinks! Well, we thought, we'll just have to buy him a replacement digger. He played with the other two trucks, the loader and dump truck for the next few days. The next to go was the Loader, a part snapped off. Then, today the dump truck bit the dust, as a connector piece of IT broke off!
I realize that they are only 11 bucks each, but I expected a bit more. If you child has a light hand and doesn't actually DIG with their trucks, then buy all means, these are great. But if your child is like ours and uses them to actually DIG, then you need to get something more durable. We have had great luck with Tonka and Little Tikes toys. They are well put together and they last. But please be wary of these trucks.
22.) Lightweight, feels cheap, and is hard to operate

I bought this for my grandson, but I'm returning it and ordering something more durable. I was shocked at how lightweight the truck is. Then I tried maneuvering it--not easy. It's obvious that it will break easily, and for the $18, I'd rather spend it on something that will last. Disappointing; we wanted to "go green" with his construction toys, but not this time.
23.) great that it is recycled but disappointing and breaks easy

I bought this for my son who turned 3 yesterday, he has a love/hate relationship with it. It is a 2 hand operation. The yellow handle for the scoop locks in place it is so simple to unlock, but he is having a hard time with it and when a toy doesn't work the way he wants he gets upset and throws it. I've showed him how to unlatch it, but his hands want to be on the scoop itself. Just as I am writing this he brought the handle to me, he broke it. He is fine with playing with it now that the handle is out. (I am too since he has stopped screaming) I am disappointed with the toy overall. It is on the small side. I wish I got the Caterpillar Jr excavator instead. I have seen it in a store and it is a lot bigger.
