1.) 22 month old loves these

My 22 month old daughter loves these. She likes to use them to finger paint with instead of using them as markers, but they rinse right off with water. They keep her busy and they are easy to clean up. I think these are a great craft item for young kids who will make a mess with whatever you give them.

3.) A Big Mess

I totally agree with the other reviews...great idea in theory but a huge mess. my 18 month old grabs them by the top marker part and ends up with marker all over him. my 3 year old gets the idea but these things let out so much ink that it gets all over his arms as he draws. they both love them but i basically have to take off all of their clothes, put down some big pieces of paper on our tile floor and make sure we have time for a bath afterwards.
4.) Would give this no stars if it was an option.

My daughter got this for her first birthday - this is not a toy for a 1 year old. However we do have a 3 year old who we thought would enjoy these markers instead. This is not a toy for a 3 year old. The 1 year old instantly tried to put the marker in her mouth - as another commenter has mentioned. And my 3 year old immediately put the yellow one against the black one which pretty much ruined the yellow marker. Then he had a very hard time even using any of the markers.
Then last night I tried to write/color with them - this is not a toy for a 32 year old. :) I love Crayola but these are awful, awful markers and while they are cute looking - they are not well suited for any kid of any age.
5.) Great idea.....Too Difficult to hold!!!!

These looked like a great idea and when we saw the commercial we had to have them.....STOP....do not waste your money. They are designed so they ink part always faces up so every time your toddler tries to grab them they roll around and are way too big for them to grip. You also MUST hold them exactly up and down or the ink will not come out, if your toddler tries to use them as a crayon they won't even write and they are too big it would take two hands to hold them just so the ink comes out. The only thing my toddler does with them is put the ink part in her mouth because that is the only way she can hold them!
6.) Big Mistake by Crayola

These "markers" have got to be one of the worst baby products I've seen. I hate to say that, because I love 99% of crayola's products, but this one fell short. My 18 month old son really can't use them at all because the marker part is on the top, and the bottom (the part that goes in your palm) is way too big for his little hand. And even when he finds a way to hold it, the "ink" comes out in blobs and creates quite a mess. I ended up letting him fingerpaint with the globs of "ink" that came out. I make sure to keep these WAY UP HIGH so he can't get them when I'm not around. If he did, I'm sure I would need new carpet and paint and furniture...Very messy, and a very ineffective product... Sorry Crayola!!!

horrible markers, would give them 0 stars if possible:(. extremely awful for a toddler to hold and draw with (my daughter is almost 2 and they barely fit in her hands). and the paintbrushes from this series are even worse, they leak, and it takes more knowledge than a kid has to use either type (the way you have to hold them and tap them in order for the color to start flowing)and I don't know about the washable part, because they leave really bad stains on skin. Even though I like crayola, this is a bad product :( don't throw your money away on it, but rather buy some regular shaped washable markers!!!
8.) Why markers????

I don't understand why these don't just have a fat crayon in them!
I think these would be a great thing if it was a waxy crayon rather than ink. I have yet to find those.
9.) Save your money

We bought these markers when my son was about a year old, but we immediately discovered how messy they can be because the ink ran out of the markers almost like water paint. Now that my son is almost two years old and very adept at using pencils and crayons, I pulled these markers out again. These markers are difficult to hold because they're so round, and they're weighted such that it's difficult for a toddler to hold them with the writing tip down. The animals are cute, but the markers are horrible. Save your money and buy a regular marker instead.
10.) bad idea

The markers have NO cap! So anytime you touch them or move them they mark all over everything. They are way too big and clunky for my toddler's hands, and don't allow her to develop a proper pencil grip, which she uses quite nicely with a regular marker. They have to use their whole fist, which gives very little control. Don't see the point at all, other than being a little bit cute.

We have a set of three First Markers for my 20 month old daughter. They are terrible. I loved the concept. She loves to color and I thought these would be more age appropriate. She grabs them from the top and her hands end up completely covered in ink. What you end up with is capless markers that get knocked off the table, leaving ink spots on the carpet, table, clothes, etc. She can't get the concept of turning them over to draw with the top, so she has yet to figure out how to color paper with them. The few times I have gotten her to turn them over to color with the top, the ears on the characters get in the way of coloring. I definitely won't buy a product like this again. Color Wonder markers are pricey but much less mess for this age. My five and seven year old are able to use them fine, but what's the point at that age?
