Santa brought these for our 4 year old and 2 year old. They love them. They really spark their imaginations and creative sides. My husband and I even like playing with them with the kids... My 2 year old can't quite click the main pieces together without help but he tries and still enjoys them. My four year old builds houses, crowns, necklaces...
2.) Always fun . . .

My 5 year old got this for Christmas. It is really cool although some of the designs are pretty difficult. My 7 year old has enjoyed making some of the designs as well. I like the fact that it comes with 6 or 7 different books that give instructions on different designs. Each book is of different difficulty.

After seeing Zoobs in a classroom, I was determined to buy them for my grandson. Of course, I forgot until the week before Christmas. Was real glad to still be able to get them in time via Amazon - and my grandson loves them. They're more versatile than legos, and just different enought to be fascinating.

I bought this for my grandson for his birthday. He loved it and enjoyed making creatures with it. He is only five but was still able to follow the simple directions to make the animals. It is great because you can buy more sets to add on and make your set even bigger if you want. The pieces are the right size for a 5 or 6 year old to handle.

My granddaughter is turning 12 this week. My daughter says get more Zoobs, you bought some a long time ago. She says they are used a lot. There is also a 7 year old in the family. I remember playing with these last summer at their house. We were squabbling over pieces because there weren't enough! So I will get more!

I got these for my 6 year old daughter. I may have jumped the gun just a bit on this one. They are difficult for her to assemble, and frequently 'pinch' her fingers. She just doesn't quite have enough strength, although I'm sure that she will someday soon. I probably should have waited another 3-6 months. I, however, love the toy myself and will be buying more for my older nephews. I think after my daughter gets a bit more strength, she will love it too. I would not recommend for children under 6 (neither does the manufacturer). However, they are an incredible toy for older children. Something different than legos. Also, one could do a stop-action project with the child for fun. I am impressed.
12.) This toy in many ways is better than Lego

We got this toy for my daughter's 4th birthday. This said, it might be slightly advanced for a 4 year old (but the age recommendation is 6 and above). She still managed to play with it and had lots of fun doing so. (though I think I had more fun LOL)
One thing that made me lower its durability rating is that it is made of all these parts that can be lost, but again it is not for the young children.
It is a wonderful toy though, because the possibilities are unlimited. One can make figures, animals, balls, etc. Wherever your imagination and creativity takes you. It is also cool that one can bring supplementary accessories.
13.) Good open-ended toy

My son (6) loves building toys - Legos, K'Nex, Magnatiles, Lincoln Logs, Zoobs, etc. These don't get played with as much as the K'Nex, Legos or Magnatiles which are his favourites, but he does pull them out regularly and enjoys building with them.
Each piece fits into others in different ways. It's totally open-ended which I love, so one day my son can build a dinosaur and another day a snake and another day a cage for a dinosaur or snake :)
The pieces are plastic but quite durable - no broken pieces yet and my son has had these for a year.
This set (250 pcs.) is a good amount - not overwhelming but plenty to make a lot of different things to play with. Grandma is giving him a Zoob wheel set this weekend when we get together for Christmas so I'm sure that will add some good play value to the set as well.

I ordered Zoobs at the request of our daughter as a Christmas gift for our almost six-year-old grandson. He loves to create things from Legos, Lincoln logs, etc., so our daughter was certain he would like Zoobs. We gave them to him at Christmastime, but I haven't heard a report.
They looked like neat plastic, colorful things with which to build, and I expect Ethan has been enjoying them.
15.) Not so hot for the under-5 group

I bought this toy after reading many reviews. Conceptually, still looks like a good deal. However, my daughter (4 at the time of this writing) did not take to this toy. She did play around with it a little bit, but it did not capture her imagination for very long. Perhaps if she were older, and could follow the instructions more easily, it would have been more engaging. As an adult, I tried to put together some of the models in this kit and found some of the ZOOB joints required dexterity beyond a 5 or even 6 year old. Sure, some of the simpler projects were not all that tough, and could be followed if you were a patient 5 or 6 year old. I would look elsewhere for the under-5. For instance, my daughter has much more fun playing with magnatiles, or playing with magnets or going through science kits for 6+ age group, than working through this. I would strongly recommend magnatiles, as they can encourage creation without such heavy demands on fine motor coordination.
